What is Calisthenics?

Calisthenics, known in Finland as street workout, is a form of bodyweight training where one’s own bodyweight, balance, coordination, and leverage are used creatively and effectively. A simple movement like a push-up can be turned into a challenging advanced variation, allowing endless adjustment of training intensity.

The discipline not only provides an alternative way to build strength and muscle mass but also opens the door to impressive skills and moves such as the front lever, back lever, planche, and muscle-up.

Although calisthenics may at first seem overwhelmingly difficult, it is a sport that offers opportunities for practitioners of all levels. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced athlete, you can progress at your own pace and learn impressive movements. Don’t let the apparent difficulty fool you – seize the opportunity, try something new and refreshing, and discover your body’s true potential with bodyweight coaching!

Handstand

Handstand is the foundation of calisthenics. It develops body control, coordination, strength, and balance. Learning the handstand also helps eliminate the fear of being upside down, which is an important skill when practicing other movements.

How is the coaching carried out?
📌 At the beginning, we conduct the necessary assessments, including a general interview, range of motion testing, and defining clear goals.
📌 Training starts according to your skill level – from the very basics, such as wall-supported handstands, all the way to advanced moves like iguana holds or one-arm handstand drills.
📌 Progress is made step by step, and you’ll be introduced to a wide range of movements that help you develop the perfect handstand.
📌 Coaching can be provided, for example, with a training program supported by a few private sessions each week. If you feel you get enough support from either one-on-one coaching or just a training plan, that works perfectly too!

What does handstand enable?
✔️ Builds a strong foundation for harder skills such as the planche and press to handstand.
✔️ Improves balance, confidence, and body control.
✔️ Strengthens the shoulders and builds raw power.
✔️ Enhances mobility in the shoulders and wrists.
✔️ Develops straight-arm strength and endurance.
